Originally from Norwich, our next masterclass will be led by Lily Pearmain who will guide you through the creation of handled vessels decorated in porcelain slip. During two sessions, each lasting 3 hours, Lily will introduce you to her making philosophy which as a self-taught potter has grown organically from her studies in Russian, via bread making, into a relationship with clay materials that is deeply personal; resulting in often raw work that lingers over the marks and imprints that her body leaves behind.
This masterclass is designed for makers with a bit more experience working with clay, and some confidence on the pottery wheel, as it will involve exercises that take you through the creation of a wheel thrown vessel, handles, followed by surface decoration with slip and inlay technique.
All materials and firings are inclusive with the price of the workshop, and you will be contacted in the weeks after your final session once your works have been fired.
Lily Pearmain is currently working out of her studio in South East London and recently completed Throwing Mud, a photography book made in collaboration with Luca Anzalone that visually explores playing with clay and includes a cover screen printed in terracotta slip.
