Rain Catcher
Rain Catcher
Rain Catcher is a new exhibition celebrating local activism, the creation of the Burges Road Community Garden, and the installation of a rainwater collector that we created with local people through a commission by Sainsbury Centre.
This collaborative artwork was created to help solve the need for water within the Burges Road Community Garden, and features over 120 handmade roof tiles illustrated by local people during workshops led by Ned.
Following its display at The Enterprise Centre, the Sainsbury Centre’s Rain Catcher will be permanently installed in the Burges Road Community Garden, where it will collect rainwater, support plant growth, and continue to tell the story of what is possible when communities work together.
Please join us for the launch:
28 August 2025 5.30-7.30 pm
The Enterprise Centre
University of East Anglia, Norwich Research Park, NR4 7TJ
This event is free and available to drop-in but advanced RSVP is encouraged.
Please RSVP to creative@uea.ac.uk to confirm attendance by 27 August 2025.

We thank all the communities and collaborators who have generously shared their time,
energy and knowledge to allow this exhibition to take place. We would like to give special
thanks to Caroline, Martin, Charlie, Izzy, and Orion for kicking off the Burges Road
Community Garden, Nik Thomson for his knowledge, and Lucy Allen for her dedicated
support; without them none of this would have have been possible.

Burges Road Community Garden has been coordinated by Norfolk and Waveney Mind with expert advice from Edible East and generously funded by Greening our Communities: Norfolk Community Foundation, Natural England and matched by a pledge fund from
Norwich City Council.
Most importantly the garden has been built by residents and Green Hearts volunteers. This wouldn't have happened without you.
Green Hearts is a community driven organisation, formed from Mile Cross Projects and
Events Group (MXPEG), focused on improving the environment for both residents of Mile
Cross and wildlife. It aims to foster a community of nature lovers and encourages actions
that protect and nurture the environment, by amplifying and enabling the incredible people in the community.
