Explore the tradition of hand forming small vessels with strips of clay, resulting in either a functional piece such as a mug or something more sculptural with an organic form.

Slab Building

Sunday 8th SEP, 2:00-4:00pm

Making pots from sheets of rolled out clay you will be shown how to use custom templates to create functional objects such as a mug or vase.

What to Expect

In a group class of up to 10 other beginners you will be taken through the process of making your own hand built piece of ceramics.

In a relaxed environment over 2 hours you will be given a choice of small objects to create, such as a mug or small bowl for the table, or feel free to follow your creative juices and go free form to make a more ornamental/sculptural creation.

At the end of the taster class you will be given a choice of glazes that will be applied by our team before being fired in the studio. You will be able to collect your glazed and fired ceramic within 4 weeks of finishing your class.

Please note that this class does not involve a pottery wheel, and we offer separate classes where you can explore wheel thrown pottery.
